Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a diagnosis?

No. You can benefit from ADHD coaching whether or not you have a formal diagnosis. If you relate to ADHD traits or challenges, coaching can still help you develop strategies and confidence.

How is coaching different from counselling or therapy?

Coaching is forward-focused and action-oriented. We work on practical skills, mindset shifts and daily systems that help you move toward your goals. Counselling and therapy often focus on processing the past, emotional healing and mental health treatment. Many people choose to do both for a complete support system.

Will coaching help if I’m on medication?

Yes. Coaching and medication often work best together. Medication can help with focus and regulation, while coaching gives you the tools, systems and habits to put that focus to work.

Who is ADHD Coaching for?

I work with:

  • Teens (13+) navigating school, friendships, identity and big emotions
  • Adults managing ADHD in work, relationships and life transitions
  • Parents & carers who want practical tools to better support their ADHD teen or family member

Do you work with people who haven’t been formally diagnosed?

Yes. While a diagnosis can provide clarity, it’s not required to start coaching. In fact, coaching can be a calm anchor — before, during and after diagnosis.

What results can I expect?

Most clients experience:

  • More structure, organisation and follow-through
  • Better emotional regulation and resilience
  • Less stress and overwhelm
  • Greater self-awareness and self-trust
  • A customised toolkit of ADHD-friendly strategies that work in real life

How many sessions will we need?

For new teen clients, a 1 hour introduction session with a parent in attendance is required.  For adult clients, you are welcome to book an individual session to ensure we have coach/client rapport before committing to a six session package.  After the first introduction session, I recommend a 6 session block to build momentum and test strategies.  Some clients continue for ongoing support, while others check in as needed.

Do you offer online sessions?

Yes — I offer Zoom or in-person sessions (location permitting). Many clients prefer online for flexibility and comfort.

Can parents be involved in teen coaching sessions?

Yes, a parent is required for the initial introduction session.  Thereafter, parents may be invited into part of a session to share updates and tools.  I also ensure teens have private time to talk openly without pressure.

What’s your approach to working with ADHD?

My approach is strengths-based and neuro-affirming, combining lived experience (as a person, parent, and partner with ADHD) with evidence-based tools. We focus on identity repair, skill-building and self-trust, not just symptom management.
